Day 27

Eternal Inheritance

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.”

1 Peter 1:3-4 NLT

While we co-labour with God in bringing something of Heaven to earth, we also are confronted with the reality that we live in the “almost but not yet” - a world in which sin has been defeated, and yet we still live with its effects. Here and now, there is still pain, suffering and evil.

In 1 Peter 1:3-4, Peter reminds us that believers have an imperishable, undefiled, and unfading inheritance reserved in heaven. Here and now is not all there is; one day, all will be made right and whole; one day, there will be no more tears.

Reflect on the hope that we have, not just here and now - but also in eternity, in a restored heaven and earth. While our lives may have seasons, triumphs and sorrows, we have an imperishable inheritance.

Consider how the hope of eternity shapes your responses to the ups and downs of life. Embrace the reality that, as a co-heir with Christ, your ultimate inheritance lies in the unfading glory of heaven.

How can the assurance of this eternal inheritance influence the way you approach daily challenges and interact with others? The hope of your imperishable legacy in Christ will fill you with resilience, joy, and a profound sense of purpose in every season of life.

How does the assurance of an eternal inheritance impact your perspective on earthly challenges and struggles? In what ways can the hope of this inheritance shape your daily living and interactions with others?
